Se você não gosta do sabor de cloro da água tratada ou não faz a manutenção da caixa, precisa usar um filtro. "Ele elimina o gosto de cloro, as impurezas e os microorganismos que estavam no reservatório", diz Ivana Wuo Pereira, gerente do departamento de Controle de Qualidade da Companhia de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo (Sabesp).
Com câmara filtrante de carvão ativado e prata, o filtro Stilla, da Cuno, é instalado diretamente na torneira.
Os mais tradicionais são os filtros de gravidade, como os de barro. Neles, a água passa por uma vela de diatomita (um tipo de mineral), que pode conter carvão ativado e nitrato de prata. "A diatomita e o carvão tiram o gosto de cloro e a sujeira, e o nitrato impede a proliferação de bactérias", diz Valéria Rodrigues Gaba, da Casa dos Filtros. Ligados ao ponto de água, os modelos de pressão podem ter uma vela simples ou uma simples combinada a outra de carvão ativado, celulose ou polipropileno.

Ambas são boas para o consumo. "A água fornecida pelas companhias de saneamento também é de excelente qualidade. O que incomoda é o gosto de cloro, inexistente na mineral", diz Carlos Alberto Lancia, presidente da Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Águas Minerais (Abinam).
Como saber a procedência?
A empresa precisa ter um registro no Ministério da Saúde e o número de concessão de lavra pelo DNPM - ambos estão impressos no rótulo, bem como a composição química da água. Nos sites desses órgãos governamentais, você pode checar se a empresa está legalmente no mercado. Outra alternativa é consultar a Abinam (
www.abinam.com.br) e verificar se o fornecedor é filiado à entidade.
